With only 5 days until the 2006 Toshiba Vegas Summer League kicks off, the Detroit Pistons’ roster is beginning to take final form.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press is reporting that Rick Rickert, a 2003 Timberwolves draft pick (#55), is scheduled to join the Bad Boy Summer Camp.

Ex-Gopher Rick Rickert will play for Flip Saunders’ Detroit Pistons summer league team.

Pistons and Fayetteville Patriots fans know Rickert as a teammate of Amir Johnson and Alex Acker during last year’s D-League season.

Rick RickertA two-time Summer League veteran, Rick played in the Rocky Mountain Revue with Seattle last summer, and in the Minnesota Summer League with the Timberwolves in 2004.

A 6′11″ Power Forward/Center, Rickert is known as a hard worker with some back to the basket skills and 3 point range.

In 2003 Rickert played in Europe with Krka Novo Mesto of the Slovenian League.

  • Adriatic League: 26 games: 11.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game
  • Euroleague: 14 games: 11.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game

After the Wolves released Rick during the summer of 2004, he signed with the Asheville Altitude of the NBDL. After 12 games with Ashville he signed with Panellinios Athens of the Greek A1 (premier) League for 13 games.

Last season Rickert played with Plus Pujol Lleida of the Spanish League for 8 games until November, and joined the D-League Fayetteville Patriots in January for 26 games.
